The dishes never stop coming…

A couple of bowls, a tea cup with two cute horses & a heart, and a few pieces of flatware, all filled with soapy water.

but at least they’re cute?

Every night as I’m getting ready for bed, after doing piles & piles of dishes all day, I always seem to find more in the sink…

What’s the story behind your favourite crockery? Like, where did you find it or who gave it to you? I have a couple of bits that were given to us by friends and I think of them fondly every time we use said dishes!

That’s a good question! I’m actually going to have to think on it for a while! 🤔

The more I think about it, the harder this question gets! Very few of my dishes match—or rather, they mostly match, but they didn’t come together in sets—and each of them was chosen because of my fondness for it or them. One of my autistic superpowers is (allllmost always) knowing which kitchenware I’ll love or hate, so I rarely buy something I don’t end up really liking. And usually I end up with crockery / flatware / pans / whatnot that are both aesthetically pleasing and purpose driven: a bowl that I like to (read: have to) eat cereal from, the larger bowls for pasta or curry, the cup I always make my tea in…MY fork, etc.

All of that being said, I do have one glass that I found in a cheap~ish store in Yokohama about five or six years ago, which I especially adore. It is occasionally used for other things, but I think of it as my milk glass because…well, I’m sure you get the point! I like the design of it, the heft of it, it’s raised design against the palm of my hand. I’ve been back to the store several times looking for another one, but struck out each & every time. And I’d be devastated if anything happened to it! How wouldI even drink milk again?!?
